Golfers raise $1,000 for Emmanuel Food Pantry

On May 14, 2016, approximately 80 golfers gathered at Canasawacta Country for the second annual Greater Norwich Golfers’ Hall of Fame golf tournament.

“One of the driving forces of this tournament is to make a donation each year to a local charitable or not-for profit organization”, said Dennis Mirabito, tournament chairperson. “The Hall of Fame honors local golfers for their talent, but we wanted to do something special for the community too”. This year, because of great participation and generous sponsors, the Hall of Fame was able to raise $ 1,000.00 for the Food Closet. Our Daily Bread Food Pantry, which operates out of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Norwich, provides approximately $75,000.00 worth of groceries per year to local families. Working closely with the Central New York Food Bank in Syracuse, local volunteers spend every dollar donated on food for local families in need.

The Hall of Fame had a committee of six tournament volunteers including Mirabito and Patti Giltner, Steve Crawford, Jim Wysor, Sam Scafidi and Doug Wilson.
